While developing our smart garments, it became apparent that not only could our technology have a huge impact for remote biomedical monitoring, but we could use our production techniques to also produce sensor arrays that collect movement data. At first this was to enable medical researchers to capture more real-world data, then with the COVID-19 pandemic, demand grew to remote rehabilitation monitoring, and sporting applications such as form assessment injury screening.

A powerful combination of new production techniques, novel sensor and garment design, combined with a sophisticated software layer enables a powerful solution that delivers above and beyond:

Motion Tracking

Using KYMIRA’s proprietary e-textile production techniques, we create motion tracking constellations around a garment. As a minimum this requires a node per limb segment but can be added to for further insights and analysis.

Muscular Activity

Using KYMIRA’s proprietary electrode technology, muscular activity can be monitored via EMG to contextualise motion tracking data and enrich your datasets.

Joint Angles

Dynamic and static joint angles calculated to the accuracy to rival the most sophisticated motion capture labs. Current accuracy testing shows a +/- 0.5o accuracy in static joint angle data.

Dynamic Acceleration

Dynamic acceleration data calculated per limb segment and for the body as a whole. Assess impact data like never before with KYMIRA’s biomechanical assessment suite.

Limb Segment Rotation

For fine motor control assessments, limb segment rotation enriches the data provided in our other sensor capabilities even further. Key for technique assessment and learning new or improved movements.
